For the 2018-2019 School Year
Statement of Purpose and Guidelines
Purpose: Our music classes exist to provide students, who may not otherwise have opportunity, with exposure, education, and experience in an ensemble and/or performing program. It is the goal of the Directors to create an environment where this learning experience can take place with the understanding that all good gifts and talents come from our Creator God and can and should be used for His glory, through Jesus Christ, and our enjoyment (I Peter 4:10; James 1:17.)
Schedule: You will be provided with a projected schedule for the school year.
Fees: Remuneration: All Fees are due on the first of each month unless otherwise arranged. A $10.00 late fee will be charged if fees are not paid by the first class/lesson of the month.
Payments may be mailed.
Any checks should be made out to Lara or Sean Capparuccia,
A. Practice: Students are expected to keep a practice log (signed by the parents.) This log may be checked weekly at class. Parents and students should work together to ensure adequate practice.
B. Dress Code: We deem modesty to be an important part of the Christian witness, and appearance is an important part of being a performing musician. Attention should be focused on music and learning and not on fashion and bodies.
Boys: No shorts. (tip: bring a comfy pair of pants and stuff them under the seat of the car to change into for class.) No tank tops, and shirts will not have offensive language or pictures. This includes slang, insulting/sarcastic comments, skulls, skeletons, etc.
Girls: No shorts. Capris or skirts must not come above the knee when sitting (if wearing a skirt or dress it is suggested that girls wear shorts or leggings underneath.) No tank tops, spaghetti straps, halters, tight/form-fitting or low-cut shirts. No offensive language/pictures, see above.
C. Performances: dress “uniform” for performances will be decided as time and place of performance may dictate type of dress. Usually white tops and black bottoms.
D. Behavior: Students, naturally, are expected to behave with Christian courtesy and respect toward the Directors, the parents, and one another. Disruptive behavior, foul language, or insulting comments will not be tolerated.
E. Discipline: For infractions of the dress code students will not be allowed to participate in class and the parents will be called to pick them up or bring appropriate clothes. For behavior issues: first, students will be verbally reprimanded and parents notified. Second, dismissed from the present class and parents called to pick them up. Third, student will be dismissed from the program.
KingsfriendMusic is grateful to the church that allows us to use their space and we expect that all students and parents will respect the church and its property at all times. Please no running through the halls, leaving trash/messes, abusing playground equipment, etc.
Devotions: Devotions and/or prayer time will be a regular part of each class.
Contact: Any questions and/or comments should be directed to the Directors who can, hopefully, direct you in the right direction. Sean and Lara firmly believe in the ministry of availability. It is far better to ask a “weird” question in the middle of the week than to practice something that needs to be unlearned at the next class, or ignore a lesson altogether because it is not understood. Please call us!
We look forward to a successful, enjoyable, and Christ-honoring year of learning and performing with you.
Praise the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens.
Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness.
Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre,
praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute,
praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.
